Has the web killed the brochure?

On the face of it the answer would appear to be yes. After all, why would you pay print bills when you can reach the whole world for free on the internet?

But as most of us know, unless a search engine puts you onto page one nobody will know you even exist. So then the only option is to put your faith and money – usually lots of it – into SEO…and suddenly it’s anything but free.

But there’s a lot more to it than that. Brochures are still far and away the best medium for creating maximum impact in any business-to-business sales or marketing situation.

Even the best websites can’t match the elegance or sheer visual and tactile appeal of a well-designed brochure. The web just doesn’t support colours or intricate images and designs as well as in print, and reading words is much easier on paper than it is on a screen. The aesthetic properties and huge variety of quality papers, with a vast array of finishes and textures, is yet another of the many factors that go to make the brochure such a invaluable and potent promotional tool.

And when you finally click off a website it’s gone, whereas a brochure has a life. It is physical, tactile and attractive part of your company that continues to reinforce your company’s messages to your prospects and customers. – and most important,
your image.
